Like many of you, Christmas is my favorite time of the year. All the shopping, decorations, baking, and especially traditions make this season so magical. A lot of the traditions I remember doing as a child were in the kitchen and I’m so grateful I’m able to continue that with my kids–and encourage it with all of you through my cake recipes! I hope you all find some new favorites with this one–the best winter cakes for any holiday party.
This list includes a nice variety of flavors ranging from dark chocolate to citrus! You all know I love finding the best flavor combinations and when I can add some fun textures throughout the cake layers, it makes it even more exciting. These are some of my absolute favorite holiday cake recipes, so I hope you enjoy them as much as my family and I do!
Winter Cake #1: Pistachio Cranberry Cake
Everything about this Pistachio Cranberry Cake looks and tastes like Christmas! I love a pink and green color combination for Christmas which has been a popular theme over the last few years. The outside of the cake is covered with a pink cranberry buttercream and once you cut into the cake you will be pleasantly surprised with the green pistachio cake layers. The recipe recommends using pistachio pudding mix, but if you can’t find any at your local grocery store, vanilla pudding mix and green food coloring will work too! I hope your friends and family love this one as much as we do!
Winter Cake #2: Santa’s Milk and Cookies Cake
This Santa’s Milk and Cookies Cake is a wonderful kid-friendly and family-friendly cake for any Christmas party. I created this recipe in honor of one of my favorite holiday traditions–decorating sugar cookies for Santa. Growing up, my family and I would decorate cookies every Christmas Eve and leave them out for Santa, which I have continued to do with my own kids. This cake is so fun to make and it encapsulates the best flavors of sugar cookies and milk!
Winter Cake #3: Hot Chocolate Cake with Marshmallow Buttercream
You guys are going to love this Hot Chocolate Cake with Marshmallow Buttercream! When I was making the buttercream, I gave a taste to my daughter and she immediately started looking for more! So I think it’s safe to say the buttercream got her stamp of approval–and I bet it will have yours too soon after your first bite. This cake is made up of the most moist dark chocolate cake layers with chocolate ganache, covered in a light and fluffy marshmallow buttercream.

This Citrus Cranberry Cake is a celebration of citrus cake layers, cranberry compote, and citrus buttercream. Baking has always been more than just baking to me. I couldn’t end this post without including one of the most classic flavor combinations for this time of year! My Chocolate Orange Cake is made up of dark chocolate cake layers and a hint of orange zest. It’s finished off with a chocolate orange buttercream. I’ve made several updates to this cake ever since I first created the recipe. I’m sure it’ll be one that will win you over!
